By The Treasure-Sharer
The thing that attracted me to the Vincent Van Gogh and Claude Monet magnetic bookmarks on Temu was actually the artwork, since I haven't had the time to read books lately. I had actually already bought a set of magnetic bookmarks from Temu in the past that I still hadn't put to use, since I hadn't been reading. Though I would have considered myself a bookworm in the past, and still love books and reading, I simply have no spare time for reading, at the moment. Even so, I couldn't help but buy the full set of 12 Monet and Van Gogh painting bookmarks from Temu when I saw them, because they were such beautiful artistic bookmarks. See the image above to see how they appeared in the Temu product page.
I've seen some of Monet's paintings in person in a museum in New York, and really love his "Water Lilies" series and some of his other pieces, and I'm also a big fan of Van Gogh's "The Starry Night" painting, and also like a few other works by him, so I was excited to see parts of some of my favorite works by Monet and Van Gogh captured in miniature form, for such a low price.
The fact that they came in the form of folding magnetic bookmarks felt like a bonus, and also gave them a practical use.
I really looked forward to receiving these unique magnetic bookmarks, because they looked so pretty in their promo pictures. See the images below to see other shots of how they appeared in the Temu product page. The first image is of the Van Gogh bookmarks designs, and the second image is of the Monet bookmarks designs.

See below for more images of the folding magnetic bookmarks, taken from the Temu product page:

The six Monet magnetic bookmarks can be bought separately as a set, as can the Van Gogh bookmark set.
Because I liked pieces by both artists, I bought the full 12-piece set of these creative magnetic bookmarks. The 12-piece set was only a few cents more than the 6-piece sets, so it would have felt silly not to get the full set. At the very least, it would mean getting more magnetic bookmarks to use, even if one didn't care much for one of the artists.
Honestly, the fact that the bookmarks are magnetic, and that the set of 12 costs only a few dollars, makes them a great deal.
Having tested them out, I can attest to the added functionality that folding magnetic bookmarks bring. Their design is really well-thought-through.
You might ask "What are magnetic bookmarks?", like I did when I first stumbled across them, and then ask "How do magnetic bookmarks work?", because I didn't even know that such things existed, let alone understood how to use them.
Like I saw a different ad for folding magnetic bookmarks say, they really are like an upgraded version of a typical paper bookmark.
Instead of being a big piece of rectangular hard paper that you stick into a book to mark the spot where you left off reading, magnetic bookmarks, with their folding magnetic design, can do so much more.
It's hard to tell from the images used in the product page, since they don't show the magnetic part of the bookmarks, but a magnetic bookmark is essentially a piece of paper with magnets on one side, that is folded in half so that the magnets on the paper can stick together, allowing the folded paper to clamp onto whatever it is folded over.
The magnets cover almost the entire surface of one side of the bookmarks (with just the part of the bookmark where it bends so that it can be folded in half not covered by the magnets). According to the product promo page image, the magnets cover 96% of the bookmark's surface. See the image above comparing the size of the magnets of these bookmarks with the size of magnets used for other magnetic bookmarks, taken from the Temu product page.
Once the paper is folded over the desired page or group of pages of the book, the magnets on the folded halves of the bookmark stick together securely, allowing them to hold tightly to and stay on the page or pages that they are folded over, allowing them to not only act as a page marker, but also kind of like a sticky tab that can serve to mark the exact section of the book where you stopped reading, or mark the start of passages that you might want to refer back to, etc.
In short, they do the work of regular bookmarks, while also providing additional benefits, like marking more specific areas of the book, or indicating specific groups of pages of importance in a book.
Unlike regular bookmarks, which must stay at the spine of the book, foldable magnetic bookmarks can be placed on the top, bottom, and side edges of a book, and can act as book marker clips that you can clip beside specific passages or parts of your book, making them more versatile and functional than typical bookmarks without magnets. I like that they can act as temporary markers for marking the exact spot where I left off in my book, or to mark specific passages that I might want to return to or refer to while reading my book -- kind of like a index sticky tab, but temporary and reusable.
I also appreciate the fact that the magnets hold the bookmarks firmly in place, since I've had regular bookmarks fall out of my books before.
The Van Gogh and Monet bookmarks were both what I expected and not what I expected at the same time. The artwork designs on the bookmarks looked just like what was advertised, and I loved them just like I thought that I would (at least the ones with the pieces that I really like on them). I was impressed with the designs as soon as I saw them. However, I was initially very surprised by how small the bookmarks were, as they were all able to fit into a small, hard, plastic box container that was smaller than my palm. The unexpected small size wasn't really the seller's fault though, since an image of the bookmarks' size dimensions had been posted on the product page, but if you don't take the time to look through all the images on the product page, or don't bother to work out the dimensions of the folding magnetic bookmarks, then you could be really surprised by the bookmarks' small size when they arrive. I know that I'm not the only one who has felt that these creative magnetic bookmarks were kind of small, because I saw a lot of others who have reviewed them on Temu comment on them being smaller than they'd imagined.
After testing them as page marker clips, however, I actually think that their size is fine, and actually makes a lot of sense. Because having magnets attached to the bookmarks makes them heavier than normal bookmarks, making them bigger might weigh down the page too much, while the smaller size of these book marker clips makes the added weight manageable and not too obtrusive. The thinness of the magnetic bookmark clips despite having the magnets also ensures that they don't harm the books or pages that they are used to mark. Their small size also makes them easier to transport, while the box holding them is compact and easily transported, and prevents the unique magnetic bookmarks from getting damaged.
The unique advantage of folding magnetic bookmarks is that they can not only mark your book page, but also the section of the book that you left off reading, or mark the start of sections that you might want to refer back to, if, for example, you are using a book as reference material for a project or assignment, and/or want to mark certain references temporarily. These magnetic bookmarks work even better than using sticky tabs, since they fold over both sides of the paper, don't slide off or open easily, can mark things temporarily, and can be removed and reused on other books. They can also fold over multiple pages, to mark groups of pages that you might want to refer back to.
Because they are magnetic, the foldable magnetic bookmarks can be used as magnets as well, and can stick to refrigerators. The product page said that they could be used on whiteboards and laptops as well, but I tried sticking them to my whiteboard and laptop, and they didn't stick. It might just be that my laptop and whiteboard are not magnetic, though.
See images of the magnetic bookmarks attached to a refrigerator, laptop, and whiteboard, taken from the Temu product page:

A thing that I immediately noticed that I didn't like about the bookmarks was that they had a very strong stench that felt a bit toxic. The smell was a bit sickening, which made me hesitate with regards to actually using the bookmarks, since I worried that I might get sick off the fumes.
As I said, I loved the design of the bookmarks, so I would have been okay with just keeping them as collector pieces. The image quality of each of the bookmarks is very clear and sharp, and the colors are nice. My man agreed with me about the quality and look of the artwork, when I showed him the bookmarks.
The bookmarks arrived well-packaged, in a small, hard plastic box, that ensured that they remained in good condition. I saw in the reviews that some people who had ordered the six-packs of Van Gogh magnetic bookmarks and Monet magnetic bookmarks did not receive theirs in a box, and that one person had even had their bookmarks arrive bent because of this, so I recommend ordering the 12-pack, if you want the best packaging, and also because it isn't that much more expensive than ordering one of the six-packs, unless you only really like the works of one of the artists.
See below for photos of the 12 magnetic bookmarks, in the case that they came in.

See below for photos of some of the magnetic bookmarks being used in different books, in different ways and different places, to show examples of how they can be used. The first photo shows the magnetic bookmark being use to mark the start of a particular paragraph, such as where the reader might have stopped reading. The second photo shows the magnetic bookmark being used to mark a full chapter, by clipping over all the pages in the chapter. The third photo shows the magnetic bookmark being used vertically, to better showcase the artwork on it. The fourth photo shows the magnetic bookmark being used as a tab, sticking out of the page, to make it easier to grab onto it, and indicate the section that it's marking. The fifth and sixth photos show how the magnetic bookmarks sit in the book, and how much thickness they add to the pages when placed over them.

Note how the magnetic bookmarks can be placed so that they stick out of the book, or sit within the book so that they don't stick out, which might be useful if you want to transport your book, and are afraid of the bookmarks getting damaged if they stick out too much.
